Jen Tucker - Artist

I grew up in inner-city Sydney in a large family. We had no space for a large garden, but Mum had a small patch she cultivated and was always growing seedlings.

I always loved art and making things from curtains to murals. With my siblings, I was always drawing or painting.

It wasn’t until my late 20s, when my kids were in school, that my drive for my creativity pushed itself to the fore, and I found myself painting flowers and coastal scenes for a period of time.

Another busy chapter of life ensued, which paused things with my art until, during Covid, I pulled out the paint brushes and reconnected with painting florals. It was beautiful to bring the outdoors inside with stunning big paintings of frangipanis, luscious roses, lilies, and peonies, taking it to the next level with the little details. I love hunting down the vibrant colours caught in the folds of the petals, the pale pastels in the highlights, the charming nuances of shape in a delicate peony petal or a scalloped edge rose.
