Olivia was born in England to English/Australian parents and raised between Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, and Perth, Australia. Art and textiles were always her most loved subjects at school and college, however, travel was more inspiring than further education at that time.
In 2005, after a year of travel, Olivia moved permanently from England to Sydney. In 2007, she pursued her passion for design and studied Interior Styling at the International School of Colour and Design in North Sydney. Through the course, she discovered Surface Pattern Design and was a finalist for the Designer Rugs Competition with her design ‘Branching Out’. It wasn’t until 2019, that she started to pursue her passion for painting again.
Living close to the ocean on Sydney’s Northern Beaches provides constant soul food and inspiration. Her love of the Australian natural environment is evident in her colourful, impressionistic seascapes, landscapes and nature studies. Olivia explores vibrant yet limited colour palettes and likes to work with elements of perspective and tonal contrast. She finds inspiration in textiles, surface pattern design, interior design and nature itself, working in acrylic, mixed media and occasionally watercolour.
