The Deep Creek Reserve branches off from Narrabeen Lake; a haven for native marine life and birds. It’s only a few moments away from my home and is where I take my dogs to cool off in Summer. My big boy Bennie the Ridgeback loves that he can wade into the water and touch the ground whenever he needs to. Despite being a big scaredy cat, Ben will always stand right beside me whenever anyone else arrives at the creek, his natural protector instinct prevailing. I painted the first pass for this artwork en plein air at this location with Ben never too far away. The air was still in this valley and the sun shining through the trees across the water. This is what appealed; the light on the water leading the eye to the pale blue reflection of the sky on the lake further along.
